001. Why does nothing happen when I try to play a video using the Flash player? The embedded Flash player only plays audio. 002. Why does nothing happen when I try to play flac/ogg/wma/m4a/ape/mka audio files in the Flash player? The Flash player currently only able to play mp3 format audio files. This is a limitation of Adobe Flash and not Ampache. (Accurate as of Flash 10.) To work around this limitation, you can enable transcoding in config/ampache.cfg.php for each existing file type.

Ubuntu Specific Changes XSPF JukeBox Flash Player Due to no free tools being available in Ubuntu to compile xspf_jukebox.fla from source at build time the XSPF Flash Player has been removed from the Ampache package in the Ubuntu repositories. As a work around in ampache-3.5.4-9ubuntu2 to reinstall the XSPF Flash Player, simply use grab_xspf.sh which can be found in /usr/share/ampache/www/bin. In a terminal simply run

Catalogs are the core of Ampache. They are a logical container for all of your music files and other records. There are two main types of catalogs currently in Ampache, Remote and Local. Remote catalogs are only for use with XML-RPC and reference other Ampache servers. Local catalogs reference a base directory on the local file system of the server. To create your first Catalog login to Ampache as an administrator and go to the Admin Menu and click on Add a Catalog
