Amarok 2.1.1 + Ampache 3.5.1 "version too old"

Having Trouble Installing Ampache, check here.

Amarok 2.1.1 + Ampache 3.5.1 "version too old"

Postby zeroshade » Fri Aug 14, 2009 8:53 am

I've seen everywhere that the currently supported combination is Amarok 2.1.x and Ampache 3.5.x.

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 and installed Ampache 3.5.1 (package version 3.5.1-1ubuntu2~ppa2), and I have Amarok 2.1.1 (package version 2:2.1.1mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu1~jaunty1)

When i try to connect to my Ampache using Amarok I get an error stating "Error Invalid Handshake - Login Failed version too old" which is confusing considering I have the newest stable versions of both Amarok and Ampache.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you're Amarok plugins are old / you don't really have Amarok 2.1.1 OR there's another error right above that relating to the ACL. anyway, works for me so this is a configuration issue on your machine.

Well, I definitely have amarok 2.1.1, I completely purged it and reinstalled ensuring the correct version just to be sure. I did the same with ampache.

There is no change. It still tells me "version too old". I have the ACL's set up as per the how-to in the wiki.

I set the start address to be 0.0.0.0 and the end to be 255.255.255.255, access is ALL, set it to use my user, and did this for RPC + ALL.

I've checked the log and the log says:

2009-08-14 19:59:30 [ampache] (Access Denied) -> Unathorized access attempt to API [192.168.1.1]
2009-08-14 19:59:30 [ampache] (API) -> Login Failed version too old

I have no idea why it's unauthorized, the user name and password are correct. And as I said above, the ACL is set up correctly. So I really don't know what is wrong.

I went into the config and access_control is set to true, xml_rpc is also set to true. Any other ideas at what it could be?

However, every once in a while I check the log and it is successfully connected. But I don't get the list of artists or songs or anything when I look at my ampache connection through amarok. Just a blank tab with the filter bar. As if it can't find anything......

I have the same problem with Amarok and ampache 3.5.1:

from ampache:
2009-09-27 07:38:10 [ampache] (API) -> Login Failed version too old

and from Amarok:
Error Invalid Handshake - Login Failed version too old

Qt: 4.5.2
KDE: 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1)
Amarok: 2.2-GIT

Any ideas ?;)

Same, I have 3.5.1 installed and ACLs setup, I even upgraded to Amarok 2.1.90 in hopes of getting it going again.

Note that with an older version of Ampache all was well so the ACLs are fine...

Don't know if anybody has ever solved this issue, but I'm having the exact same problem. And I'm willing to post my ACL list (as shown by my webrowser but somewhat edited):

Name..... Start Addr ..... End Addr ............. Level .......... User ....... Type

Work ..... <work ip> ...... <work ip> ............ All ............. All ......... Web Interface
Work ..... <work ip> ...... <work ip> ............ All ............. All ......... Stream Access
PalmPre .. 0.0.0.0 ......... 255.255.255.255 ... Read/Write .. <user> .... API/RPC
LAN ....... 192.168.0.0 ... 192.168.1.255 ...... All ............. All ......... Local Network Definition
LAN ....... 192.168.0.0 ... 192.168.1.255 ...... Read/Write .. All ......... Stream Access
LAN ....... 192.168.0.0 ... 192.168.1.255 ...... Read/Write .. All ......... Web Interface
Amarok ... 0.0.0.0 ........ 255.255.255.255 ... Read/Write .. <user> .... Stream Access

I suspect this has more entries than are actually needed for my purposes (the goals of which are to allow web access from my office, access via AmpachePre from my phone, and streaming via Amarok from my laptop). AmpachePre is working perfectly, and I don't see why Amarok should be throwing an error -- but it is.

When I try to access the server using amarok from a laptop on the LAN at 192.168.0.103 using the <user> login and have gotten the same "Login Failed version too old" error as everyone else.

Amarok is 2.1.1 from ubuntu (jaunty-backports) and Ampache is 3.5.1 from debian (squeeze).

That enough info for you? I'm happy to give more if you ask, but don't know what else might help.

I'm having a similar issue. I'm just trying to use cURL to examine xml that gets returned from the server. I am only receiving the response.
Code: Select all
<root>
<error code="401"><![CDATA[Error Invalid Handshake - Login Failed version too old]]></error>
</root>

I'm looking into developing an adobe AIR desktop app, and would like to get past this issue. Any help would be great.

Thanks!

I'd still love some advice based on the ACL I posted a couple of weeks ago, if anybody has any thoughts.......

Please upgrade to 3.5.2 just to be safe as there are/were a good number of API fixes.

Hello,
I had the same problem than you after I defined a user in the ACL to remplace "ALL", I switch back to "ALL" and it's working again..

Try to put your ACL API/RPC to ALL

and tell me what's append

Got it to login successfully now. Unfortunately it turns out that Amarok (at least on my Acer Aspire One) is too resource intensive to be much use for me. I'm sticking w/Rhythmbox and having the music served via mt-daapd (an extra service to run on my server, but so be it......)
