Every time I upgrade Ampache, I run into some kind of problem. I always end up redoing the config from scratch.
Before 3.3.3.4 i can't remember the exact problem, but here:
3.3.3.4 to 3.3.3.5, music won't play even in the XSPF player. don't see any errors in httpd logs.
3.3.3.4 to 3.4 beta, the login screen and home screens are all over the place
3.3.3.5 to 3.4 beta, same as above
I'm just gonna install 3.4 and redo the config all over again.. can't wait for the next upgrade

Nope never had any trouble, nor have I ever had any reports of such. As for the display issues may I recommend you clear your browser cache......

Good recommendation. I just installed 3.4 from scratch and had that same issue. I refreshed the page and it looks great.
I'm gonna restore my 3.3.3.4 and try to upgrade to 3.4 beta again now.

It seems the last db backup I made was the one with the error where it won't play the mp3. Now I have a broken install of 3.3.3.4, so I'd like to fix that before I try upgrading again. Do you know what broke it? It happened when I was upgrading 3.3.3.4 to .5 (I thought that would help ease the process)

You'll need to provide me with more information "doesn't play" doesn't really mean anything what error is it giving and what do the logs say.

I was impatient and upgraded anyway, it fixed it by itself.
Just so you know, earlier I was upgrading 3.3.3.4 to .5 and when trying to play a song ampache would serve me the m3u but it wouldn't stream the file. I tried it with WMP, VLC, and even the XSPF player.
Its fixed now, no error upgrade. You should put that refresh tip in the docs, that was driving me nuts.
Thanks for the prompt replies. Have a good night.
edit: no errors in error_log, access_log or syslog that related to the problem. sorry.

I never have any problems on the upgrades. I typically will just back up my old folder by call the folder name something different, like from /music to /music-old. Then download the latest SVN and place it in on my server and rename its folder back to the live folder, so from /Ampache-snapshot-rxxx to /music Then all I have to do is grab the old ampache.cfg.php from my back up and copy it over to the same location that I put the new files and it all works without problems
The first time you bring up amapche it will give you an ugprade screen which i hit update and typically doesnt find anything to update. Then from there I am good to go. Occasionally I may have to clear my browser temp files if things dont look normal the first visit, but other than that I have had no problems.
