BJGEISER Is a machine. Ampache Mobile 0.9.4 is out this version includes Video streaming support along with a large number of other amazing features. I highly recommend you check it out if you’re a Palm device user. Along the mobile front The Amdroid-H and Amdroid developers have teamed up so we can expect to see more updates for the Android app within days.

I apologize that development has been slow I blame real life. In my absence flowerysong and cslamar have been taking up the slack with patches and management of the themes section respectively. I hope that over the next few months I’ll be able to dig back into the code. There is also an Amarok Google Summer of Code student who is working on improving the interaction between Amarok and Ampache so there should be some exciting new things in that area as well. I’m also planning an overhaul of the main Ampache.org website, I just haven’t decided what I want it to look like yet, but as part of that I hope to add some more dynamic / ampache / last.fm integration features. We’ll see…

Last but not least there are a whole slew of amazing new themes That you can either download directly from the site or check out of svn at svn.ampache.org/contrib/themes

Dimitri over at Sourcetrunk has done a review of Ampache, as well as some might tasty sounding beer. For those of you new to Ampache, or even the old time users check it out you might learn a thing or two. Sidenote – some of you may have noticed that I’ve switched bug trackers yet again this time to FlySpray. I only moved over the bugs that still seemed to apply, as I had let the old list rot. I will try to keep the new list a little more ship shape.

I’ve briefly reviewed your excellent software (Ampache) and thought I’d let you know. The podcast aired on 19th of February 2010 . You can find it on http://www.sourcetrunk.com.

If you are under the impression that your software was not reviewed like it should and/or did not get the review that it deserved, please let me know and I’ll make adjustments and addenda in the next episode.

Since the reviews are rather short and it is not possible to cover every feature of the software, there is a fair chance that I’ve missed features that should have been mentioned. If so, just point them out to me in a reply and I’ll be more then happy to mention them in the next episode.

Thanks again for the great software, I use it on a daily basis.

kind regards,
Dimitri Larmuseau
host/producer Sourcetrunk

All good things come to those who wait, and this is definitely one of those good things. Ampache 3.5.2 has finally been released. This version fixes a large number of bugs found in the API by various other developers. A big thanks to all of you who submitted bug reports. There are also some improvements to the handling of damaged audio files. They will now be put under their own album “Unknown (Broken)” rather then being lumped with the “Unknown (Orphaned)” files. This version also includes an amazing new theme called Penguin.

You’ll notice that a lot of the elements have been moved around, behold the power of CSS! Hopefully this theme is an inspiration to others of just how much you can change. Enjoy!

I am currently attending NLUUG’s fall conference in Ede, NL where I just gave a talk on Open APIs and Ampache.

Since my last posting there has been a new addition to the default theme list of Ampache, as well as some more work on 3.5.2 and 3.6. I do not know when either one of the two will be finished but rest assured as the weather worsens I will be spending less time in Kayaks trying to get myself killed, and more time working on Ampache so things should speed up. 3.5.2 Should fix a few remaining issues with the API as well as some other misc issues. Keep your eyes pealed for the next release.
